Mascoma Lake Wildlife

Birdwatching on Mascoma Lake has become very popular over the past years due to the presence of loon, osprey, and bald eagles. In the summer of 2013 many were surprised by the appearance of a large eagle’s nest on the east side one of the islands. With luck and patience, many saw both eagles at one time.

Loons return to Mascoma Lake every spring. Part of Mascoma Lake Association’s mission is to increase awareness of the dangers that loons face as well as facilitating successful nesting whenever possible.
